From 02-08 March Húnaklúbburinn is traveling to Italy for our final youth exchange with the project Midnight's Light.

The project is called Midnight’s Light because we discuss topics that are important to youth that might be dark or light in thoughts and feelings. Through theater, art, and self-expression the youth learn how to better communicate who they are and who they want to become. The project is a social project focusing on mental well-being in youth and how to express ourselves in a resilient way through communication, self-expression and through connection with nature and to community.

We have worked together in three countries

Verkefnið CAP-SHARE: Byggjum brýr á milli vísindafólks, stefnumótenda og samfélaga (á ensku CAP-SHARE: Building Bridges of Shared Capacity between Scientists, Policymakers, and Communities) hefur hlotið styrk frá Norðurslóðaáætlun Evrópusambandsins (Interreg Northern Periphery and Arctic) sem nemur rúmum 120 milljónum króna. Um er að ræða þriggja ára verkefni sem byrjar nú í haustog endar haustið 2027. Markmið verkefnisins er að valdefla ungt fólk og styrkja tengsl vísindafólks og stefnumótenda í samfélögum á norðurslóðum þegar kemur að ákvarðanatöku varðandi verndun líffræðilegrar fjölbreytni og  aðgerðir gegn loftslagsbreytingum. Áhersla verður lögð á samvinnu við ungmenni og áðurnefndir hópar munu taka þátt í vinnustofum þar sem rödd allra fær að heyrast.

Þátttakendur í verkefninu eru Náttúruminjasafn Íslands, Selasetrið, Húnaklúbburinn og sveitarfélagið Húnaþing vestra ásamt samtökunum Arctic Frontiers í Noregi og Háskóla Lapplands í Finnlandi. Vinnan mun fara fram að hluta til í netheimum en einnig verða vinnustofur og ráðstefnur haldnar í hverju landi fyrir sig þar sem þrjú þemu munu liggja til grundvallar:

• Byggja brýr á milli samfélaga, stefnumótenda og vísindafólks
• Hvernig taka skuli tillit til sjónarhorna þvert á kynslóðir heimafólks
• Fá ungt fólk til að taka þátt í og hafa áhrif á staðbundnar aðgerðir allt frá hugmyndum að stefnumótun

Verkefnið byggir að hluta til á eldra verkefni sem Jessica Aquino, dósent við ferðamáladeild Háskólans á Hólum leiddi og nefndist Youth for Arctic Nature. Jessica mun einnig vinna við nýja verkefnið ásamt Cécile Chauvat en hún hefur verið ráðin til Náttúruminjasafnsins sem starfsmaður verkefnisins og verður hún með starfsstöð á Hvammstanga.

New Interreg NPA project - CAP-SHARE

We are pleased to announce our new project CAP-SHARE: Building Bridges of Shared Capacity between Scientists, Policymakers, and Communities which has received funding from the European Union's Northern Periphery and Arctic Program amounting to 120 million ISK. It is a three-year project that starts this fall and will end in the fall of 2027. The goal of the project is to empower young people and strengthen the relationship between scientists, policymakers, and Arctic communities when it comes to decision-making regarding the protection of biodiversity and climate change mitigation. Emphasis will be placed on cooperation with young people and the aforementioned groups will participate in workshops where everyone's voice can be heard.

The participants in Iceland are the Natural History Museum of Iceland, the Icelandic Seal Center, the municipality of Húnaþing vestra, and the youth club Húnaklúbburinn. They will work together with Arctic Frontiers in Norway and the University of Lapland in Finland. Some of the work will be carried out online, but local workshops and events will be also held in each country, based on three themes:

• Co-creating bridges between communities, policymakers, and scientists
• Recognizing intergenerational local and indigenous knowledge
• Involving youth in place-based actions from conception to policy

The project is partly based on an past project called Youth for Arctic Nature led by Jessica Aquino, associate professor in the Rural Tourism Department at Hólar University. Jessica will also work on the new project together with Cécile Chauvat, who has been hired by the Natural History Museum as an employee of the project and will be based in Hvammstangi.

Skákklúbbur í grunnskólanum á Hvammstanga
Klúbburinn er fyrir fólk á aldirnum 6 - 25 ára sem hafa áhuga á skák og vilja læra og verða betri í þessari flottu íþrótt. Æfingar verða haldnar í grunnskólanum á Hvammstanga alla miðvikudaga kl 14:30 - 15:30.

Það má koma og prófa frítt en misserið kostar 3000 kr.

Sá sem sér um æfingarnar heitir Jóhann Örn. Hann starfar í Órion og stundar M.Ed nám í tómstunda- og félagsmálafræði við Háskóla Íslands.

Chess club in elementary school in Hvammstangi
The club is for people aged 6 - 25 years old who have an interest in chess and want to be better in this fun sport. Training is going to be held in the elementary school in Hvammstangi every Wednesday at 14:30 - 15:30.

You can come and try out for free but the semester costs 3000 kr.

The person who takes care of the training is Jóhann Örn. He works at Órion and is studying M.Ed in leisure and community development.

Hópvinna ungmenna á 10 ára og eldri sem koma saman til að teikna; læra um vatnsliti, stafræna teikningu og ástunda ýmsa aðra sköpun. 
 
Skráningargjald fyrir 13. Feb til 23. april er 3.000 kr. og innifalið í því er efniskostnaður og þátttökugjöld.
